Hyderabad: BRS leaders on Monday sought details of the ED raid probe linked to Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy. They asked the Enforcement Directorate to disclose the investigation’s status two years after the searches.
The delegation visited the ED office at Basheerbagh under the aegis of BRSV and BRSY. The searches took place on September 27 and 28, 2024. They covered the minister’s residence, offices and other related locations.
BRS MLCs Shambipur Raju and Naveen Reddy joined the delegation. MLAs Vivekanand Goud and Sanjay were also present. Senior leader Talasani Sai Kiran and BRSV State President Gellu Srinivas Yadav also took part. Several other party leaders accompanied them.
Police initially stopped the leaders when they tried to enter the ED office. They had planned to submit a representation to officials. Subsequently, BRS cadres staged a protest outside the office. Police then allowed a delegation to enter. The leaders met ED Deputy Director Swathi and submitted their representation.
Subheading: BRS seeks status of ED raid probe
In its letter, the BRS sought clarity on the investigation’s present status. It noted that two years had passed since the searches. The party sought details of action taken on cash and documents allegedly seized during the searches. It also asked about digital devices and bank account information allegedly collected by officials.
According to the BRS, the ED conducted simultaneous searches at around 16 locations. It said a large number of ED officials and CRPF personnel took part. The party also alleged that officials carried cash-counting machines during the searches. However, it questioned the absence of clear information about seizures and subsequent investigative action.
The BRS also sought details on the progress of other investigations. These included the Narsapur-Kodangal Lift Irrigation Scheme and the Vatingapalli FIR. It also sought information on the Kotwalguda-Manasa Hills matter.
