BJP stages maha dharna in Hyderabad over pending Congress promises

Hyderabad: The Telangana unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday staged a massive “maha dharna” at Indira Park, accusing the ruling Congress government of betrayal and non-implementation of its electoral promises.

BJP demands action on pending promises

Led by Telangana BJP president G. Kishan Reddy, senior leaders including DK Aruna, K. Laxman, and MP Ramchander Rao participated in the protest. The BJP alleged that the Congress, despite completing two years in power, had failed to honour key promises made before the 2023 elections.

Kishan Reddy launched a scathing attack on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, questioning how the CM could tour districts when the government had yet to fulfil major commitments. He accused the Congress of indulging only in publicity over schemes like subsidised rice and free bus travel, while noting that a significant portion of the rice scheme is funded by the Centre.

Congress, BRS both failed Telangana: BJP

The Union Minister also targeted the previous BRS regime, accusing it of pushing the state into debt and running a family-centric government mired in corruption. He said Congress was continuing the same legacy of broken promises and political defections.

Kishan Reddy demanded that both CM Revanth Reddy and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi apologise to the people of Telangana. He criticised the government for failing to deliver on promises made to farmers, youth, women, BCs, SCs, STs, and government employees.

Challenging the Chief Minister, Kishan Reddy said the BJP is ready to debate the Congress government’s performance on any platform. “Let Revanth Reddy choose the topic and time — we are ready to send any BJP karyakarta to prove our case,” he said.
