Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Thursday mourned the SI Venkanna death and ordered police to quickly trace the unidentified driver involved. K. Venkanna served as a Sub-Inspector at Kothagudem Two-Town Police Station. A speeding unidentified vehicle struck him while he performed Ganesh idol immersion bandobust duty at NTR Marg in Hyderabad.
Venkanna later succumbed to his injuries. In an official statement, Revanth Reddy paid tribute to the police officer. He said Venkanna had lost his life while performing his duties with dedication to maintain law and order.
Moreover, the Chief Minister described his death as an irreparable loss to his family and the state police force. Revanth Reddy also conveyed condolences to Venkanna’s family and prayed for the departed officer.
SI Venkanna death: Government assures support to family
Following the SI Venkanna death, Revanth Reddy assured the officer’s family of support from the state government. He said the government would extend all necessary financial and administrative assistance to the bereaved family.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister directed senior police officials to expedite the investigation into the incident. He instructed them to locate the unidentified driver and initiate strict legal action over the alleged reckless and negligent driving.
