Hyderabad: Telangana Jagruthi president K. Kavitha has urged the state government to defer the Assistant Public Prosecutor (APP) written examination scheduled for December 14. She cited its clash with the second phase of panchayat elections and expressed concerns about holding the APP exam on polling day, which may affect voters and candidates alike.
Advocates forced to choose between vote and exam
In a statement, Kavitha questioned whether thousands of rural advocates must choose between exercising their franchise or attending the recruitment exam. She said that the Telangana State Level Police Recruitment Board (TSLPRB) had scheduled the APP exam for December 14. The schedule includes two sessions — 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM — coinciding with polling hours.
With the exam centres located in Hyderabad and district headquarters, Kavitha warned that rural candidates would be deprived of their right to vote.
CM urged to intervene
She appealed to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to intervene immediately and issue clear directions to TSLPRB for rescheduling the APP written test.
Kavitha stated that ensuring citizens’ voting rights must take precedence over recruitment logistics. This is particularly important when thousands of applicants come from rural constituencies participating in the local body elections.
