Dasoju questions Balka Suman arrest, seeks equal action against Revanth

Hyderabad: BRS MLC Dasoju Sravan Kumar questioned the Balka Suman arrest and demanded that the same legal standards be applied to Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy if similar remarks were considered offences.

Dasoju made the remarks after visiting former MLA Balka Suman at Chanchalguda Jail along with other BRS leaders. He alleged that Suman was jailed through fabricated cases after exposing alleged irregularities and corruption in Singareni Collieries.

The MLC said Suman had raised concerns over alleged injustices, corruption and problems affecting workers in Singareni. He claimed that the former MLA was treated as a criminal for speaking against those issues.

Dasoju questioned why the same laws used against Suman were not being applied to Revanth Reddy. He cited several statements allegedly made by the Chief Minister and argued that authorities had not taken similar action against him.

Balka Suman arrest sparks political criticism

According to Dasoju, large-scale irregularities worth thousands of crores were taking place in Singareni Collieries. He said workers were facing multiple hardships and claimed that Suman had spoken only to protect their interests.

He argued that Telangana society should reflect on the issue and determine whether there was equal treatment under the law.

“If what Balka Suman said is wrong, then why is what Revanth Reddy said not considered wrong? Why is no FIR being registered against him?” Dasoju asked.

The BRS leader further alleged that Congress leaders frequently used objectionable language during public meetings. He demanded that cases also be registered against those leaders if the government intended to act against political statements.

Balka Suman arrest raises questions on legal standards

Dasoju accused the state government of adopting a selective approach in handling political cases. He claimed that opposition leaders were being targeted while ruling party leaders were not subjected to similar scrutiny.

He also alleged that constitutional principles were not being implemented properly in Telangana. The MLC claimed that governance in the state was being driven by political considerations rather than equal application of the law.

The Balka Suman arrest has triggered a fresh political confrontation between the ruling Congress and the opposition BRS, with both sides exchanging allegations over governance and freedom of expression.
