Hyderabad: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold a virtual meeting with Chief Ministers today to review preparedness amid the West Asia crisis. The West Asia crisis has prompted the Centre to strengthen coordination with states.

West Asia crisis meeting focuses on preparedness and coordination
The Centre plans to use the meeting to build consensus on India’s response. Meanwhile, escalating geopolitical tensions and global impacts have raised concerns.
Officials clarified that Chief Ministers from election-bound states will not attend due to the model code of conduct. However, the Cabinet Secretariat will conduct a separate meeting for Chief Secretaries from those states.
Earlier, the government convened an all-party meeting in New Delhi to discuss the West Asia crisis. In addition, Prime Minister Modi addressed Parliament and outlined key measures.
He said the government formed seven empowered groups to prepare strategies on fuel, supply chains, fertilisers, and related sectors. Consequently, authorities aim to mitigate the impact of the ongoing conflict.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh chaired the all-party meeting. Meanwhile, senior leaders including Amit Shah, S. Jaishankar, Hardeep Puri, and Kiren Rijiju attended the discussion.
Opposition leaders also participated and raised concerns. However, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said the government addressed all issues during the meeting.
He added that opposition parties assured support for steps taken in response to the West Asia crisis. Therefore, the Centre expects coordinated action moving forward.
The developments come as tensions in the region disrupt maritime routes and raise concerns over the safety of Indian nationals in Gulf countries.
