Hyderabad: TGSPDCL completed Anganwadi electrification across its jurisdiction, providing electricity connections to 8,977 eligible centres under the DA-JGUA Scheme.
The initiative strengthened infrastructure at Anganwadi centres in rural and urban areas. It also supported services linked to child health, nutrition, early childhood education and women’s welfare.
The programme followed the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka took the initiative forward, while Women and Child Welfare Minister Danasari Anasuya (Seethakka) provided guidance.
TGSPDCL officers and staff completed the work within the stipulated timeline. The exercise covered centres identified as lacking electricity connections within the corporation’s jurisdiction.
Officials identified 9,234 unelectrified Anganwadi centres under the scheme. However, 257 centres fell into categories such as not required, merged, non-existent or untraceable.
TGSPDCL therefore provided connections to the remaining 8,977 eligible centres. With this, the corporation achieved 100% electrification of all eligible Anganwadi centres under the programme.
The corporation completed the initiative in two phases. During Phase-I, officials connected 7,073 of the 7,297 identified centres. They completed that phase in July 2026.
During Phase-II, officials connected 1,904 of the 1,937 identified centres. They completed the second phase on August 10, 2026.
Anganwadi electrification strengthens grassroots welfare services
TGSPDCL Chairman and Managing Director Jitesh V. Patil, IAS, said Anganwadi centres played an important role in children’s overall development and in providing services to pregnant women and lactating mothers.
He said electricity would help centres improve educational, health and nutrition services at the grassroots level. Moreover, power availability would support better infrastructure and create improved learning environments for children.
Patil also said reliable electricity would help Anganwadi staff perform their duties more efficiently. He appreciated the government’s focus on strengthening welfare infrastructure for women and children.
The CMD credited TGSPDCL officers and employees with completing the programme within the prescribed timeframe. He particularly appreciated the work of Chief Engineers, Superintending Engineers, Divisional Engineers, Assistant Engineers and line staff.
Patil said their coordination and commitment helped the corporation complete the electrification programme. He added that the work would benefit children, women and local communities across the State.
The electrification programme is expected to create more comfortable conditions for children at Anganwadi centres. It will also support service delivery for pregnant women and lactating mothers.
In addition, the new electricity connections will improve working conditions for Anganwadi staff. The initiative will therefore strengthen the infrastructure supporting the State’s women and child welfare programmes.
TGSPDCL reaffirmed its commitment to supporting government welfare initiatives through reliable electricity services and quality power infrastructure.
The corporation said it would continue contributing to Telangana’s development through power infrastructure and public welfare programmes.
