Hyderabad: TGSPDCL conducted the Basti Bata programme across all 21 circles on Thursday to address consumer grievances. The programme followed directions from TGSPDCL CMD Jitesh V. Patil, IAS.
Senior engineers and field staff took part in the programme across urban and rural areas. They directly met consumers in colonies, bastis and areas served by power substations.
Officials received complaints about power supply, new service connections and billing issues. Consumers also raised concerns about maintenance needs and transformer capacity enhancement.
The Basti Bata programme also focused on improving the power distribution network. Teams carried out several maintenance and safety works at different locations.
Officials inspected transformers, AB switches and low-tension and high-tension lines. They also removed garbage from transformer yards and cleared vegetation near power lines.
In addition, teams trimmed trees and removed branches that affected power lines. Workers also cleaned distribution transformer yards and replaced damaged equipment.
Field teams repaired power lines and installed spacers at various locations. These works aimed to improve safety and strengthen the local distribution network.
TGSPDCL officials also interacted with local public representatives and community members. They received suggestions on improving electricity services in their respective areas.
The programme covered service areas linked to power substations across the state. Officials focused on reaching consumers directly rather than limiting grievance handling to regular office channels.
Where possible, authorities initiated immediate steps to address the complaints received during the programme. Technical teams also completed several works during their field visits.
Basti Bata programme expands technical works
The Basti Bata programme included distribution transformer maintenance at several locations. Teams also cleaned transformer yards and replaced equipment that required attention.
Furthermore, workers repaired lines and installed spacers to improve distribution safety. They also removed tree branches that posed problems near electricity lines.
In some areas, TGSPDCL commissioned additional distribution transformers to strengthen the network. The move aimed to improve the reliability of power supply for consumers in those areas.
The programme therefore combined grievance redressal with field-level maintenance activities. Officials used direct interactions with consumers to identify service issues and technical requirements.
TGSPDCL said it was continuing the Basti Bata programme across its jurisdiction. The initiative aims to bring electricity services closer to consumers and improve service quality.
The power utility also said it remained focused on reliable and uninterrupted electricity supply. It stressed prompt and effective action on consumer concerns at the grassroots level.
The Thursday programme involved chief engineers, superintending engineers and divisional engineers. Assistant divisional engineers, assistant engineers and other field staff also participated.
Their involvement allowed officials to assess consumer concerns and distribution-related requirements directly. The programme also provided a platform for communities to communicate local electricity service issues.
TGSPDCL said public grievance redressal remained a key focus of the initiative. The utility aims to maintain direct access to consumers while addressing their concerns promptly.
