Hyderabad: Telangana Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy secured key commitments for Telangana road projects during a meeting with Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in Delhi. The discussions covered major infrastructure proposals, highway development and connectivity improvements across the state.
Gadkari approved the proposed double-decker elevated corridor between LB Nagar and Hayathnagar to address traffic congestion in Hyderabad. He also agreed to the proposal for laying the foundation stone for an iconic cable bridge across the Krishna River on National Highway 167K.
The proposed bridge aims to improve connectivity between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. It is also expected to strengthen transport links and support tourism in the region.
Gadkari responded to the request for an elevated corridor on NH 765 between Hyderabad and Srisailam. He directed the concerned officials to prepare a fresh detailed project report (DPR) immediately.
Telangana road projects include five ropeways and new highway proposals
Under the Parvatmala scheme, Gadkari gave the green light to five ropeway projects in Telangana. He also responded positively to the proposed Hyderabad-Amaravati greenfield highway, which would connect the capitals of the two Telugu states.
Three road overbridges (ROBs) received approval under the Setu Bandhan scheme. Komatireddy also requested Central Road and Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) allocations for 34 works across Telangana. Gadkari directed central officials to take immediate action on the request.
The Centre also responded favourably to the state’s proposal to upgrade several state highways to national highways. The roads listed included routes covering Pullur, Alampur, Jatrapole, Pentlavelli, Kollapur, Lingala, Achampet, Devarakonda, Mallepally and Nalgonda.
Komatireddy also invited Gadkari to attend the Indian Road Congress (IRC) conference scheduled in Hyderabad from November 19 to 22. Gadkari responded positively and assured the minister that he would attend the event.
