Hyderabad: BRS General Secretary RS Praveen Kumar demanded a Congress leaders land inquiry covering Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy. He urged the Telangana government to extend its land investigation to properties owned by Congress leaders, rather than examining BRS leaders alone.
In a letter to Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju, Praveen Kumar sought an expansion of the committee’s inquiry. He also submitted details of Congress leaders’ assets along with supporting evidence.
Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Tuesday, he challenged Government Order No. 134, calling it unconstitutional. Praveen Kumar, a former IPS officer, alleged that the order violated Article 14 of the Constitution, which guarantees equality before the law.
He claimed the government had deliberately selected properties belonging to BRS leaders for investigation. According to him, the move amounted to political retaliation against the opposition for questioning government decisions and raising public issues.
Congress leaders land inquiry demand raises Assembly dispute
Praveen Kumar also questioned the Assembly proceedings held on September 16, 2026, describing the discussion on BRS leaders’ properties as one-sided. He alleged that Revanth Reddy, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and other Cabinet ministers had jointly planned the issuance of the disputed order.
Furthermore, he accused the government of deliberately preventing BRS legislators from entering the Assembly on September 7. He claimed that security personnel had assaulted party representatives, including women, and that subsequent suspensions prevented their participation in Assembly proceedings.
As a result, he alleged, the government discussed BRS leaders’ landholdings without allowing them to present their explanations. Praveen Kumar maintained that the legislators had prepared to raise several issues concerning Telangana but were denied that opportunity. He reiterated his demand for a Congress leaders land inquiry and sought equal scrutiny of properties belonging to ruling-party representatives.
