Hyderabad: The Republic of Fiji appointed Dr. Seetha Ramaiah Boddapati as its Honorary Consul in Hyderabad, with jurisdiction over Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. The appointment established Fiji’s Honorary Consul in Hyderabad as a diplomatic contact for government institutions, businesses and communities across the three southern states.
Fiji Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs Sitiveni L. Rabuka signed the Consular Commission formally authorising Boddapati’s appointment. Meanwhile, India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) conveyed its official concurrence, recognising the consular office and its jurisdiction.
Fiji’s Honorary Consul in Hyderabad to promote bilateral ties
Boddapati received responsibility for facilitating diplomatic engagement, strengthening commercial partnerships and providing consular assistance across the designated states. In addition, his office would serve as a contact point for government agencies, commercial organisations and local communities seeking engagement with Fiji.
The appointment was expected to strengthen economic, institutional and cultural cooperation between Fiji and southern India. Hyderabad’s established presence in life sciences, information technology, healthcare and higher education offered opportunities for expanding bilateral engagement.
These sectors were identified as potential areas for cooperation, alongside trade, tourism and investment. Boddapati also outlined plans to strengthen India-Fiji relations through closer institutional cooperation and exchanges between people in both countries.
His proposed initiatives would focus on building connections across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka while expanding opportunities for bilateral collaboration. The consular assignment also aimed to facilitate communication between Fiji and institutions operating in the three states.
