Telangana–Liverpool cooperation expands with MoU on trade and innovation

Hyderabad: The Telangana government and Liverpool City Council signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in trade, investment, innovation, tourism, culture and sports.

The agreement established a framework for collaboration between Telangana and Liverpool, with an emphasis on economic partnerships and knowledge exchange. The development emerged during a meeting with a visiting Liverpool delegation, chaired by Special Chief Secretary Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, in Hyderabad.

Commissioners of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Cyberabad Municipal Corporation and Malkajgiri Municipal Corporation also attended the meeting.

The discussions focused on identifying opportunities for cooperation across several sectors, including healthcare, life sciences, research, innovation, trade, investment, skills development and sports.

Telangana–Liverpool cooperation to include startup partnerships

A major focus of the discussions was the proposed Hyderabad–Liverpool Innovation Bridge, which aimed to connect startup ecosystems in both regions. The initiative involved Hyderabad-based T-Hub and Knowledge Quarter Liverpool/Sciontec.

Through the proposed arrangement, the participating organisations planned to connect startups from Telangana and Liverpool. They also explored opportunities to develop cross-border business partnerships.

The proposed innovation bridge formed part of broader Telangana–Liverpool cooperation efforts discussed during the delegation’s visit. Meanwhile, the MoU provided a framework for cooperation in investment promotion, innovation and knowledge exchange. It also covered tourism, cultural engagement and sporting activities.

The meeting brought together senior Telangana government officials and representatives of the Liverpool delegation to discuss potential institutional and business partnerships.
