Tadepalli: Two youths died after a country boat sank in the Krishna river near Prathuru in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh. The accident took place in Tadepalli mandal on Saturday night. The deceased are Arjun (17) and Harsha (18).
Five friends from Prathuru village set out in a country boat on Saturday for fun. Eshwar, Sandeep, Santosh, Arjun and Harsha crossed a stream of the Krishna river in the boat. However, water entered the boat on their way back, and it sank.
Sandeep, Santosh and Eshwar swam to the bank and escaped safely. Meanwhile, Arjun and Harsha went missing in the water.
Bodies recovered from Krishna river
After receiving information, police, fire personnel and expert swimmers launched a search with the help of villagers. They later recovered the bodies of the two missing youths.
Harsha was studying Intermediate second year in Tadikonda. He had come to his native village for the Dasara holidays. As a result, his death has left the village in deep grief. Locals said Harsha’s parents died a few years ago.
Arjun had completed Class 10 and was staying at home. Police registered a case and are investigating the incident.
