Telangana Governor attends Bihar Diwas celebration in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla attended the Bihar Diwas celebration at Lok Bhavan in Hyderabad as chief guest, marking the state’s formation and its national role.

The Governor, along with First Lady Janaki Shukla, joined the event and extended greetings to participants. He paid tribute to leaders and people of Bihar for shaping the state and driving its growth.

While addressing the gathering, the Governor recalled that Bihar came into existence on March 22, 1912, after separation from the Bengal Presidency. He noted that Bihar remained an integral part of the Republic after Independence. Since then, it contributed across cultural, spiritual, political, and educational fields.

Governor highlights Bihar legacy at Diwas event

He referred to Bihar’s past as a centre of civilisation. In particular, he cited Nalanda and Vikramshila universities for their academic legacy. He also recalled that Lord Buddha attained enlightenment at Bodh Gaya, underlining its spiritual value.

The programme followed the ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ initiative of the Union government. It aimed to promote national integration through cultural exchange. The Bihar Diwas event in Telangana reflected this approach.

During the programme, a video message from the Governor of Bihar was presented. The Bihar Tourism Department also showcased the state’s historical and cultural legacy.

Cultural performances marked the evening. Artists presented traditional dances and other forms reflecting Bihar’s ethos. Meanwhile, several dignitaries attended the event. These included M Dana Kishore, IAS, Special Chief Secretary to the Governor, and Vijay Kumar, IPS, Additional Director General of Intelligence. Officials from Lok Bhavan and members of the Bihar community in Hyderabad also attended.
