Hyderabad: Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao vowed to intensify the party’s fight against the Congress government on Tuesday. He described the Congress government’s 1,000-day “Praja Palana” as “Praja Vanchana Palana” and alleged that several electoral promises remained unfulfilled.
Speaking to the media after police took him to Gandhi Nagar Police Station following his arrest, Rao questioned the government’s record on farmers, youth, employees and other sections.
He alleged that the Rythu Bharosa assistance had fallen from the promised ₹15,000 per acre to ₹12,000. Rao also claimed that farmers were not receiving the assistance on time.
The BJP leader questioned the government’s employment record as well. He claimed that only around 16,000 jobs had been provided despite a promise to create employment opportunities within 100 days.
Rao also raised concerns over delays in salaries, pensions and implementation of the PRC. He alleged that fee reimbursement dues of ₹15,000 crore were affecting nearly 40 lakh students.
He criticised several government initiatives, including HYDRAA, HILT and CURE. According to Rao, these initiatives had created uncertainty among residents, industries and investors.
The BJP president also questioned the status of the SC/ST, Youth, BC and Rythu declarations made by Congress before the elections. He sought details of investments, industries and employment generated in Telangana.
Rao further alleged that the Congress government was failing on law and order. He also accused it of targeting BJP leaders and restricting opposition activities.
Congress government faces BJP agitation
Rao said the BJP would continue its campaign against the Congress government despite arrests and police cases. He declared that the party would take its fight “from the streets to the Assembly”.
In a subsequent social media post, Rao warned Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy against assuming that arrests could silence BJP leaders. He recalled the BJP’s opposition to the Emergency imposed in 1975.
Rao said the party would continue its fight “Sadak se Sadan tak”. He alleged that the Congress government was using its authority to suppress opposition voices.
The BJP president maintained that his party would continue to hold the government accountable on public issues.
Meanwhile, BJP national president Nitin Nabin spoke to Rao after his arrest and expressed support for the Telangana BJP unit.
According to the party, Nabin assured Rao that the national leadership stood firmly behind the State unit. He also appreciated the party’s continued campaign against the Congress government.
