Hyderabad: A Khammam road accident claimed the life of a lorry driver in Khammam Rural police station limits late Tuesday night. The collision occurred on a road near Arempula after a moving lorry crashed into another truck parked by the roadside.
According to police, the lorry involved in the crash was travelling from the Warangal side. It rammed the stationary lorry with considerable force near Arempula in Khammam Rural mandal.
The driver of the moving lorry died at the scene following the impact. Police identified the deceased as a resident of Vijayawada.
Meanwhile, the driver of the parked lorry suffered serious injuries in the collision. Emergency personnel shifted him to a government hospital for medical treatment.
The crash occurred around midnight within the limits of the Khammam Rural police station. Police subsequently began handling the accident and related procedures.
Khammam road accident leaves one driver dead
The deceased driver’s body was taken to the mortuary at Khammam Government Hospital. Annam Srinivasa Rao, organiser of Annam Foundation, assisted in shifting the body to the mortuary.
SI Nagulu Meera confirmed the details of the incident. Police were continuing the necessary procedures following the fatal collision.
The accident involved two lorries, with one vehicle parked on the road near Arempula. The other lorry approached from the Warangal side before hitting the stationary vehicle.
The collision proved fatal for the moving lorry’s driver. Police identified him as being from Vijayawada, while the parked lorry’s driver survived with serious injuries.
Doctors at the government hospital were treating the injured driver after his transfer from the accident site. Meanwhile, authorities continued their procedures concerning the deceased.
The incident took place within Khammam Rural police station limits on Tuesday night. Further action in the case was being handled by the police.
