Hyderabad: BJP national president Nitin Nabin condemned the Ramchander Rao arrest, accusing the Telangana Congress government of targeting BJP leaders. He criticised the police action against Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao while he was travelling to meet the party’s Nalgonda district president.
The Nalgonda BJP president had recently faced an alleged attack by Congress workers. Ramchander Rao was travelling to meet him when police arrested him, according to Nabin.
Nabin said he spoke to Ramchander Rao over the phone following the arrest. He expressed solidarity with the Telangana BJP president.
The BJP national president alleged that the government machinery remained silent when Congress workers carried out physical attacks. However, he said police arrested BJP leaders who went to support those affected.
Nabin also attacked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his statements on protecting the Constitution. He described the statements as political rhetoric aimed at misleading the public.
Ramchander Rao arrest draws BJP criticism
Nabin accused the Telangana government of following an authoritarian approach. He said the people of Telangana would soon give an appropriate response to what he described as the government’s actions.
The BJP national president made the remarks in a post on X. He also disclosed that he had spoken with Ramchander Rao after the Ramchander Rao arrest and conveyed his support.
Nabin said the arrest reflected what he described as the Congress government’s approach towards BJP leaders in the State.
