Hyderabad: Telangana Mines and Geology Minister G. Vivek Venkatswamy urged the Centre to expedite Tadicherla environmental clearance for the Block-II coal mine. He said the project held strategic importance for Telangana’s industrial development.
Vivek met Union Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Bhupender Yadav in New Delhi on Tuesday. Peddapalli MP Gaddam Vamsi Krishna and Zaheerabad MP Suresh Shetkar accompanied him.
During the meeting, the Telangana delegation discussed several priority mining projects. The Minister said those projects would support the State’s economic and industrial growth.
Vivek said early clearance for the Tadicherla Block-II coal mine could create more than 1,000 direct and indirect jobs. Moreover, he said higher coal production would strengthen Telangana’s industrial sector.
The project would help meet the growing coal requirements of industries, he said. It would also support the local economy and create sustainable livelihood opportunities.
Tadicherla environmental clearance linked to job creation
The Minister said Tadicherla environmental clearance would allow the State to advance a major coal mining project without further delay. He stressed that timely approval would expand employment opportunities in the surrounding region.
Vivek also asked the Union Minister to accelerate environmental approvals for the RKP Mines Project. He described it as another important mining initiative for Telangana. According to the Minister, timely approvals for both projects would strengthen the State’s mining sector. In addition, they would help attract fresh investments and create more jobs.
He said delays in environmental permissions could affect the pace of industrial expansion. Therefore, he requested the Centre to complete the approval process at the earliest. The Minister also highlighted the importance of coal supply for industrial operations. Increased production, he said, would help Telangana meet rising demand from key sectors.
Tadicherla environmental clearance part of wider mining push
Vivek said the Telangana government would continue coordinating closely with the Union government. The State would seek timely approvals for projects considered crucial to its development.
He reiterated that Telangana’s interests remained the government’s priority. Furthermore, he said industrial growth and youth employment guided the State’s mining policy.
The Minister said the government would make every necessary effort to secure approvals for major projects. He also linked faster clearances to investment, employment and regional economic growth.
The meeting focused on removing regulatory delays affecting the Tadicherla Block-II and RKP projects. Both initiatives formed part of Telangana’s plan to expand mining activity.
Vivek said the State expected the Centre to respond positively to its requests. He maintained that the projects could generate long-term benefits for workers, industries and local communities.
The Tadicherla environmental clearance request remained central to the delegation’s representation. The Minister said the mine could provide more than 1,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities.
He also said improved coal availability would support existing industries and future investments. Meanwhile, the proposed mining activity would strengthen the local economy through new jobs and related business opportunities.
The delegation urged the Union government to treat both environmental approval requests as priority matters. It said faster decisions would allow Telangana to advance projects tied to industrial development.
Vivek concluded that the State government would continue pursuing approvals through cooperation with the Centre. He said Telangana would protect its interests while promoting industry and employment.
