CEO Sudarshan Reddy directs transparent implementation of SIR process

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Electoral Officer C. Sudarshan Reddy directed officials to implement the SIR process transparently and ensure an accurate voter list across the state. Addressing the media in Hyderabad, he said the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026 exercise aims to prepare a comprehensive electoral roll without errors.

He also dismissed reports claiming that new voter registrations are not allowed under the exercise. Officials have already provided training to Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and Booth Level Agents to ensure smooth implementation, he said.

SIR process to begin door-to-door enumeration from June 25

Meanwhile, Sudarshan Reddy said BLOs will distribute enumeration forms through door-to-door visits from June 25 as per the Election Commission schedule. He asked voters to submit completed forms by July 25.

Further, he clarified that eligible new voters can register through the same enumeration form. According to him, authorities have completed nearly 80 percent of the mapping exercise in several areas.

He also said officials will accept government-issued documents during verification. Voters linked during the 2002 exercise will not need to submit additional documents, he added.

The Chief Electoral Officer assured that officials will follow the Election Commission’s schedule until the publication of the final voter list on October 1. Additionally, the department is recruiting data entry operators to support the revision exercise.

Officials are incorporating forms collected by BLOs into the draft electoral rolls. Sudarshan Reddy also said election officials will hold meetings with political parties as part of the revision process.
