Hyderabad: Telangana Rakshana Sena president Kalvakuntla Kavitha warned that she would launch an indefinite hunger strike if authorities fail to resolve pending Singareni jobs linked to Medical Board cases.
Kavitha issued the warning after visiting the KTK-5 mine in Bhupalpally on Saturday. She accused the Congress government of pushing Singareni into losses. She also alleged that the government had neglected workers’ welfare.
Kavitha urged workers and residents of Bhupalpally to support the Telangana Rakshana Sena. She said the party emerged from her long association with Singareni workers during the Telangana movement.
Singareni jobs demand focuses on 1,200 pending cases
Meanwhile, Kavitha alleged that Singareni was not providing adequate drinking water and ventilation facilities to workers. She urged the management not to issue memos to workers or subject them to harassment.
Further, she referred to a recent detonator blast that injured a worker. She alleged that the use of substandard detonators had caused such accidents. Kavitha also levelled corruption allegations against the government. However, she did not provide specific details.
She gave the government one month to act on applications pending before the Medical Board. According to Kavitha, authorities should conduct two Medical Board sessions every month.
She demanded medical examinations for all 1,200 pending applicants. Additionally, she sought dependent jobs for eligible family members without delay. Kavitha warned that she would begin a Gandhian-style hunger strike from July 20 if authorities fail to conduct the Medical Board process.
She also demanded an end to vigilance inquiries that allegedly trouble workers. Further, she sought corrections to name-related issues in official records. Kavitha proposed financial assistance of ₹10 lakh for workers to build houses.
She also suggested creating a separate housing board for Singareni employees. According to her, the board could help retired workers secure housing. She urged Singareni management to prioritise worker welfare and safety.
