Hyderabad: Southern Command chief Lieutenant General Sandeep Jain on Thursday called on Telangana Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla at Lok Bhavan during his official visit to Telangana.
Lieutenant General Sandeep Jain, AVSM, SM, serves as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Command in Pune. Senior military officers also attended the meeting.
During the interaction, the Southern Command chief briefed the Governor on welfare programmes, security measures and key initiatives across the command.

The Southern Command chief outlined major activities and development programmes under the command. He also updated the Governor on ongoing security measures.
Later, MLC Malka Komaraiah, representing the Medak–Nizamabad–Adilabad–Karimnagar Teachers’ Constituency, met the Governor at Lok Bhavan.
Prof. C.V. Narasimhulu, Principal of Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology (CBIT), Gandipet, also called on Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla.
Sidda Venkata Surya Prakasa Rao, International President of Vasavi Clubs International, and other members of the organisation also met the Governor.
Leaders of the National Adivasi Girijana Abhyudaya Sangham, led by president Chanda Lingayya Dora, later met the Governor at Lok Bhavan.
The delegation urged the Governor to ensure effective implementation of the Panchayats (Extension to Scheduled Areas) Act (PESA). They also sought implementation of Regulation 1 of 1970 in Telangana’s Scheduled Areas.
The representatives asked the Governor to hand responsibility for sand and mineral extraction to local tribal communities. They also requested that authorities spend the revenue only on tribal area development.
In addition, the delegation appealed for special initiatives to preserve and promote Adivasi and tribal languages and culture.
