Shabbir Ali leads tribute rally in Nizamabad, urges unity and grassroots focus in Congress meet

Hyderabad: Congress senior leader and Government Advisor Mohammad Ali Shabbir on Wednesday led a tribute rally in Nizamabad in memory of those killed in the Pahalgam militant attacks. The rally, held at the Ambedkar Chowrasta near Pulang Junction, also expressed solidarity with the armed forces involved in Operation Sindhoor, which targeted terrorist hideouts. Shabbir Ali and Congress workers laid floral tributes at the statue of Dr B.R. Ambedkar.

Earlier in the day, a key Congress organisational meeting was held at Baswa Garden in the Nizamabad Urban constituency, led by Town Congress President Keshav Renu, as per directions from the Pradesh Congress Committee.

The meeting featured Shabbir Ali as the chief guest and was attended by MLC and town in-charge Venkat Balmoor, former MLC Rajeshwar, State Cooperative Society Chairman Manala Mohan Reddy, and Satyanarayana Goud.

Addressing party workers, Shabbir Ali praised the Revanth Reddy-led Congress government for implementing a caste census, calling it a model initiative for the country. He urged party leaders to concentrate on resolving public grievances rather than competing for positions, stating that true public representatives are those who prioritise people’s needs.

He also outlined ongoing development work at the government hospital in Nizamabad, including projects worth ₹83 crore, installation of two new lifts, and upgrades to the drainage system.

Shabbir Ali criticised both the BRS and BJP for their failure to deliver meaningful results and encouraged Congress workers to actively spread awareness about the achievements of the state government. He called for internal unity and warned that those involved in factionalism would face disciplinary action, including suspension.

Acknowledging the contributions of long-serving party workers, he said the leadership must now reward such commitment by assigning responsibilities and mentoring new leaders. He instructed all members to participate actively in meetings and support the formation of town and division-level committees in line with AICC guidelines.

He further assured that the Congress government would address agricultural issues through the ‘Bhoo Bharathi’ platform and accused the previous BRS government, led by K. Chandrashekar Rao, of corruption in the double-bedroom housing scheme. He said the Congress would deliver 3,500 houses in the Nizamabad constituency and plans to provide 10,000 houses per constituency across the state without any political bias.

Housing funds would be linked to construction progress to ensure accountability, he said, vowing to guarantee housing for all economically weaker families.

Shabbir Ali also called for the expansion of the ‘Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan Abhiyan’ in all party divisions and stressed that roles in the party would be based on merit and discipline, not seniority or group loyalties. He urged workers to bridge gaps between old and new members and work collectively to build a stronger Congress.

The meeting was attended by town association heads, division-level leaders, local party cadres, and grassroots workers.
