Hyderabad: Telangana government officials reviewed Ganesh immersion arrangements at a preparatory meeting chaired by Transport, BC Welfare and Hyderabad in-charge Minister Ponnam Prabhakar.
DGP C.V. Anand attended the meeting along with senior officials from various departments. Representatives of Ganesh festival committees and organisers of major idols, including Khairatabad Ganesh, also participated.
Police and municipal officials discussed arrangements for the upcoming Ganesh festivities and immersion process. The meeting focused on security, traffic management and coordination among the departments.
Speaking at the meeting, DGP C.V. Anand recalled his long association with Ganesh immersion duties. He said this was his 14th year of involvement in immersion-related arrangements.
Anand also said he had handled immersion security duties 10 times during his tenure in City Police. He had served as DCP, Additional Commissioner of Police and Commissioner during those assignments.
The DGP outlined the security arrangements planned in six phases. He also discussed precautions that Ganesh mandap organisers should follow during the festivities.
Ganesh immersion arrangements focus on security and coordination
The Ganesh immersion arrangements also covered security at idol locations. Anand stressed the need for close coordination between police and municipal authorities.
The meeting also discussed the deployment of cranes for the immersion process. Officials considered the arrangements needed to ensure the smooth handling of large idols.
Representatives from different government departments explained the preparations planned by their respective departments. They briefed the meeting on the measures being taken for the festival and immersion.
Ganesh festival committee representatives also raised their concerns and sought clarification on various arrangements. Officials responded to their queries and provided the necessary clarifications.
The meeting brought together festival organisers, police, municipal authorities and senior officials to coordinate the Ganesh immersion arrangements.
