Hyderabad: The Revanth Reddy meeting with AICC general secretary K.C. Venugopal in Delhi focused on Telangana’s political developments and Congress party affairs, according to party sources.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy met Venugopal at his residence on Tuesday. The leaders held detailed discussions on developments in Telangana and matters concerning the Congress organisation.
Revanth Reddy briefed Venugopal on the government’s development and welfare programmes. He also discussed party activities and organisational matters in the State.
The leaders discussed the filling of nominated posts. They also examined steps to strengthen the Congress organisation and prepare its future political strategy.
Recent issues involving senior Congress leaders also came up for discussion. Party sources said the Konda Surekha episode and the matter involving Planning Board Vice-Chairman Chinna Reddy figured in the talks.
Revanth Reddy meeting covers Konda Surekha and Chinna Reddy issues
During the Revanth Reddy meeting, the Chief Minister reportedly explained the developments involving Minister Konda Surekha and her daughter Sushmita.
Their remarks had triggered controversy in Telangana. The TPCC disciplinary committee later submitted a report to the Congress high command on the issue.
Revanth Reddy reportedly briefed Venugopal on the committee’s report and the developments that followed. The leaders also discussed the issue involving senior Congress leader Chinna Reddy.
Party sources said the Congress leadership could examine the matter further before taking a decision.
Meanwhile, K.C. Venugopal is expected to meet other Telangana Congress leaders in Delhi. Konda Surekha has already secured an appointment with him.
Komatireddy Rajagopal Reddy is also reportedly seeking a meeting with Venugopal. He is expected to raise his demand for a Cabinet berth with the Congress leadership.
The Revanth Reddy meeting came as the Congress leadership continued consultations on Telangana’s political and organisational affairs.
