Hyderabad: Telangana will continue its Sand mafia crackdown while ensuring uninterrupted sand supply for beneficiaries of the Indiramma Housing Scheme, Labour, Employment and Mines Minister Dr. G. Vivek Venkatswamy said on Monday.
Addressing the media on completing one year in office, Vivek outlined departmental achievements and highlighted government initiatives in welfare, employment generation and industrial development.
The minister said the government has focused on public welfare, economic growth and job creation during the past year. He added that the administration remains committed to implementing promises made during the elections.
Vivek said the government is also preparing policies to improve social security, insurance coverage and health protection for gig workers across the state.
Sand mafia crackdown backed by enforcement teams
Reaffirming the government’s stand against illegal mining, Vivek said authorities would show zero tolerance towards illegal sand transportation and sand mafia activities.
He said special enforcement teams are continuously monitoring violations. Furthermore, officials will take strict action against individuals involved in illegal mining or activities that cause revenue losses to the state.
The minister said Telangana has created a favourable environment for industrial growth and is attracting investments that can generate employment opportunities for local youth.
Additionally, the government is promoting skill development programmes to equip young people with industry-relevant skills and improve employability.
Sand mafia crackdown linked to housing scheme support
Highlighting support for the Indiramma Housing Scheme, Vivek said the government is supplying free sand to beneficiaries to reduce construction costs for poor families.
He said authorities have introduced greater transparency in sand distribution. As a result, eligible beneficiaries can access sand without unnecessary delays or difficulties.
The minister added that strict monitoring is preventing illegal sand activities from disrupting housing construction works.
Vivek also announced the establishment of an Advanced Technology Centre in Chennur. The facility will provide modern, technology-driven training programmes aligned with industry requirements.
According to the minister, the centre will help unemployed youth acquire market-oriented skills and improve job prospects. He said similar Advanced Technology Centres will serve as gateways to employment opportunities for Telangana’s youth.
