Sabitha Reddy seeks apology from Revanth Reddy over engineering students remark

Hyderabad: BRS Legislature Party Deputy Leader P. Sabitha Indra Reddy demanded that Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy issue an unconditional public apology to Telangana’s student community over his Engineering students remark, in which he allegedly described engineering students as “criminal waste.”

She strongly condemned the Chief Minister’s reported remarks and said they insulted engineering students, whom she described as the architects of a new Telangana.

Sabitha Indra Reddy said the comments reflected the Chief Minister’s arrogance. Moreover, she accused him of making reckless and baseless allegations against students instead of recognising their contribution to society.

Engineering students remark sparks BRS criticism

She alleged that Revanth Reddy targeted engineering students to divert attention from his government’s administrative failures. According to her, he attempted to cover up delays in clearing fee reimbursement arrears by branding students as “criminals.”

Further, Sabitha Indra Reddy said the Chief Minister’s remarks cast aspersions on the education system. She argued that no government had the right to demoralise students pursuing higher education in Telangana.

She said Telangana had produced world-class intellectuals and scientists. Finally, she reiterated her demand that the Chief Minister publicly apologise to the state’s engineering students without any conditions.
