Hyderabad: The Election Commission extended the SIR deadline for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Telangana till August 10. It urged voters who have not yet submitted their enumeration forms to use the extended period.
Earlier, the Commission had fixed July 24 as the last date for the Special Intensive Revision. However, it later extended the deadline to August 3.
The Commission had also scheduled rationalisation and rearrangement of polling stations on August 3. Meanwhile, it had planned to publish the draft electoral roll on August 10.
SIR deadline extended after requests
The Election Commission said it would receive claims and objections from August 10 to October 8. Thereafter, it plans to publish the final electoral roll on October 12.
However, requests reached the Commission seeking more time to complete the Special Intensive Revision of all voters. The representations said the August 3 deadline was insufficient for completing the exercise.
Accordingly, the Commission extended the last date for submitting enumeration forms to August 10, giving eligible voters another opportunity to complete the process.
