CM Revanth Reddy directs police to avoid traffic disruption

Hyderabad: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed police officials to ensure smooth public movement during his convoy travel and visits by dignitaries across Telangana.

He instructed Director General of Police C. V. Anand to prevent inconvenience to commuters and avoid long traffic stoppages during convoy arrangements.

The Chief Minister expressed concern over heavy traffic congestion near the airport on Wednesday while travelling to Delhi.

Taking serious note of the situation, Revanth Reddy ordered the DGP to act against officials responsible for lapses. He also asked police to maintain regular traffic flow during convoy operations.

The Chief Minister instructed officers not to stop vehicles from the opposite direction without necessity. He asked traffic personnel to regulate movement with minimal inconvenience to the public.

Traffic disruption issue reviewed by DGP

Following the Chief Minister’s directions, C.V. Anand held a video conference with SI-rank and senior officers from Law and Order and Traffic Police wings across Telangana commissionerates.

The DGP said the Chief Minister’s repeated concern reflected the seriousness of the traffic disruption issue. He urged field officers to respond with urgency.

C.V. Anand informed officials that the department would soon establish a dedicated traffic bureau under an additional DGP. The bureau will strengthen traffic management across the state.

He also instructed officers to prepare alternative routes in advance, especially during peak traffic hours. Officers must regulate traffic flow instead of completely halting vehicles during convoy movement.

Traffic disruption measures planned before monsoon

The DGP directed officials to maintain strict vigilance around airport roads and major traffic junctions.

With the monsoon season approaching, he instructed officers to prevent water stagnation and reduce congestion caused by heavy rain.

C.V. Anand warned that police would not tolerate illegal parking on the Outer Ring Road. He also instructed Law and Order personnel to coordinate closely with traffic police, ISW, and CSW wings for better traffic regulation.

Senior officials who attended the video conference included Hyderabad Police Commissioner V. C. Sajjanar, Cyberabad Commissioner M. Ramesh, and Malkajgiri Commissioner B. Sumati.
