Hyderabad: Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy questioned KCR’s asset growth on Thursday, citing the former chief minister’s 2004 election affidavit. He sought an explanation from the BRS leadership over the family’s reported landholdings.

Ponguleti referred to K. Chandrashekar Rao’s affidavit filed for the 2004 Karimnagar Lok Sabha election. According to the minister, KCR had declared zero acres of land in that submission.

Against that backdrop, Ponguleti questioned how the family had acquired extensive landholdings during the following two decades. The minister raised the allegations in a post on X. He claimed that the Kalvakuntla family had accumulated wealth at the expense of activists from the Telangana movement.

Ponguleti seeks answers over KCR’s asset growth

Ponguleti further alleged that the family had encroached on government land, assigned land and land owned by Dalits. The source material did not include a response from KCR, his family or the BRS to these allegations. Tagging BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao, Ponguleti sought clarification over KCR’s asset growth and the family’s landholdings.

He questioned whether disclosures in earlier election affidavits had contained false information. Alternatively, he asked whether recent claims concerning ancestral landholdings had been misleading. The minister’s remarks triggered a fresh political dispute over the BRS leadership’s assets and its past election disclosures.
