Hyderabad: The Election Commission of India announced a fresh revision of Graduate MLC electoral rolls for two Telangana Legislative Council constituencies on Thursday. All eligible graduates, including existing voters, must submit fresh applications for enrolment.
The exercise will cover the Mahabubnagar–Rangareddy–Hyderabad and Warangal–Khammam–Nalgonda Graduate MLC constituencies. According to the schedule, officials will issue a public notice inviting applications from eligible graduates on September 20. Subsequently, applicants can submit their enrolment forms until November 6.
The Election Commission will publish the draft Graduate MLC electoral rolls on November 25. Thereafter, voters can submit claims and objections until December 10. Following verification, the commission will publish the final electoral rolls for both constituencies on December 30.
Graduate MLC electoral rolls require fresh applications
Telangana Chief Electoral Officer clarified that officials would discard the existing voter lists for the revision exercise. Therefore, every eligible graduate must apply afresh to secure inclusion in the new rolls.
The requirement will also apply to people who registered as voters during previous elections. Consequently, their earlier registration will not automatically place their names on the revised rolls. The revision of Graduate MLC electoral rolls comes ahead of vacancies expected in the Telangana Legislative Council.
The terms of sitting MLCs Surabhi Vani Devi and Teenmar Mallanna are drawing to a close. The Election Commission initiated the electoral roll exercise ahead of those vacancies.
