Hyderabad: Revenue, Housing and Information & Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said the Musi Rejuvenation Project would lay a strong foundation for Telangana’s future and transform Hyderabad into a world-class city. He said the government would implement the project by balancing development with humanitarian concerns.
The minister reviewed land acquisition and rehabilitation measures for the Musi Rejuvenation Project at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Telangana Secretariat. Revenue Secretary D.S. Lokesh Kumar, Stamps and Registration Inspector General Rajeev Gandhi Hanumanthu, Musi Riverfront Development Project Managing Director E.V. Narasimha Reddy, HMDA Commissioner Sarfaraz Ahmed and the Collectors of Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal-Malkajgiri districts attended the meeting.
Musi Rejuvenation Project focuses on development
Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy said Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy envisioned the Musi Rejuvenation Project as a landmark initiative to restore the river and promote tourism, employment and economic growth.
He said the project would improve environmental protection and provide a healthier and safer living environment for future generations.
The minister noted that pollution in the Musi River had affected residents for decades. He added that recurring floods had caused hardships for people living along the river.
According to him, the project includes flood management, water purification, green spaces, roads, parks, walkways and recreational facilities to transform the riverfront into a vibrant urban corridor.
Musi Rejuvenation Project includes rehabilitation
Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy reiterated that the project was not intended to harm any section of society. He said the government would ensure that every decision reflected humanitarian considerations and protected the interests of affected families.
The minister directed officials to adopt a people-centric approach during land acquisition. He instructed them to prepare an action plan to allot double-bedroom houses to families that lose their homes because of the project.
He also said the government would provide statutory compensation and necessary rehabilitation to people losing their land. The government, he added, would not compromise on ensuring fair compensation and rehabilitation.
