Mehdipatnam police bust MDMA drug network

Hyderabad: The Commissioner’s Task Force, Golconda Zone, and Mehdipatnam police busted an organised MDMA drug network and arrested one drug peddler, three sub-peddlers and four consumers in Hyderabad.

Police seized 137.60 grams of MDMA, a Volvo XC90 car, nine mobile phones and packing materials worth Rs.26.80 lakh during the operation.

The arrested accused were identified as M. Shubham Kumar Mishra, Soham Nayak alias Jittu, Kalangi Rajesh, Munthun Kumar, Mohammed Abrar Alzama, Rashid Bin Hussain, Khaja Zohaibuddin and Abdul Shaybaz.

Officials apprehended the accused within Mehdipatnam police station limits after receiving credible information about drug trafficking activities.

MDMA drug network used Rapido services

Investigators said Shubham Kumar Mishra procured MDMA from his childhood friend Busa Sai Nikhil Yadav alias Sai. Chilkalguda police had earlier arrested Sai in another NDPS case.

Police said Mishra later continued the drug business with Soham Nayak and Kalangi Rajesh. The trio allegedly repackaged MDMA into small packets and sold them in Hyderabad and nearby areas.

Investigators said the accused personally delivered the drugs and also used Rapido services for transportation. Police alleged that Munthun Kumar helped them supply narcotic substances to customers.

According to police, the consumers purchased MDMA at prices ranging between Rs.2,000 and Rs.3,000 per gram.

MDMA drug network led to major seizure

During the operation, police seized a crystal white Volvo XC90 car, one weighing machine, a hammer, rubber bands, envelopes, packing covers and nine mobile phones from the accused.

Police registered a case in Crime No.152/2026 under Sections 8(c), 22(c), 27A, 29 and 27(a) of the NDPS Act at Mehdipatnam police station.

Hyderabad police urged students and youth not to fall prey to drugs. Officials also advised parents to closely monitor the activities of their children.

Police requested citizens to share information about narcotics and anti-social activities with law enforcement authorities.

DCP Vaibhav Raghunath Gaikwad, IPS, supervised the operation along with task force and Mehdipatnam police officials.
