Hyderabad: Commissioner of Police Cyberabad Dr. M. Ramesh launched the Margadarshak certification programme in Cyberabad on April 25, 2026.
The programme was conducted by the Society for Cyberabad Security Council under the aegis of Cyberabad Police. It marked a step in strengthening community-led support and intervention systems.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Women and Child Safety Wing, K. Srujana attended the event along with other officials. On the occasion, a stalking awareness video was released by the Women and Child Safety Wing in collaboration with SCSC.
The Margadarshak certification programme combined earlier Margadarshak and Sanghamithra initiatives. It aimed to create a network of trained emotional first responders to support individuals in distress.
Initially, organisers received nearly 80 nominations from organisations and resident welfare associations. Subsequently, 60 participants were shortlisted after a pre-assessment and underwent structured training.
The three-week programme included field exposure visits to Women Police Stations, Gachibowli Police Station, Bharosa Centre, AHTU, CDEW, and SHE Teams. These sessions familiarised participants with support systems and response mechanisms.
More than 60 participants completed the training and received certification as Margadarshaks. The volunteers were brought together as a unified community support network.
SCSC representatives, including Secretary General Ramesh Kaza and CEO Naved Alam Khan, attended the programme. Several Women Safety Forum members and expert faculty also participated in the training sessions.
Margadarshak certification programme strengthens community support
Addressing the gathering, the Commissioner said policing now extends beyond enforcement. He stated that community engagement and care formed a key part of modern policing.
He added that the Margadarshak certification programme enabled trained volunteers to provide early emotional support. It also helped guide individuals towards appropriate services before issues escalated.
Cyberabad Police and SCSC stated that similar initiatives would continue to build safer and responsive communities.
