Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Mahesh Kumar Goud criticised the KTR black-shirt protest, alleging that BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao was staging political drama instead of addressing the party’s past record. He made the remarks while addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Friday.
According to Mahesh Kumar Goud, KTR should have at least spoken the truth on the occasion of his birthday. He said merely wearing black shirts would not convince the people of Telangana.
Further, he said the public was well aware of the BRS government’s record. He added that people would not believe what he described as “pretended concern and black-shirt dramas.”
KTR black-shirt protest draws Congress criticism
Referring to KTR’s criticism of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, Mahesh Kumar Goud questioned the relevance of the Chief Minister’s visits to Delhi. He also recalled that the BRS had staged a protest in Kodangal.
Meanwhile, he criticised former chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR) for not issuing a single statement in support of the student movement.
Further, Mahesh Kumar Goud alleged that KTR had staged a protest at Dharna Chowk near Indira Park after the previous BRS government removed the protest venue. He questioned KTR’s moral authority to hold a dharna there.
Moreover, he said KTR should have apologised to the people before launching protests. He demanded that the BRS pay ₹2 crore from party funds to the family of every person who died during its tenure in power.
According to Mahesh Kumar Goud, the Globarena company caused the deaths of 27 Intermediate students. He also questioned why authorities had not made the report on the 2011 Globarena issue public.
In addition, he urged KTR to lodge a complaint seeking an inquiry into the Globarena issue. The TPCC president claimed that if the Congress government initiated the probe, the BRS would accuse it of political vendetta.
He further alleged that the public already knew about paper leak incidents during the BRS government. According to him, KTR was responsible for several deaths linked to the illegal sand trade.
Moreover, Mahesh Kumar Goud alleged that the BJP and the BRS were working together. He claimed there were strong reasons to believe that both parties were acting in tandem.
