BRS alleges irregularities in TOMCOM recruitment for Germany jobs

Hyderabad: BRS general secretary R.S. Praveen Kumar alleged irregularities in TOMCOM recruitment on Thursday, claiming that unemployed youth paid Rs 4.10 lakh each for jobs in Germany advertised as free of cost.

He accused the Congress government and Minister Vivek Venkataswamy of irregularities involving overseas employment placements through the Telangana Overseas Manpower Company (TOMCOM).

Addressing a press conference at Telangana Bhavan on October 29, Praveen Kumar claimed that approximately 200 candidates had paid money for the employment opportunities. However, he alleged that at least 10 candidates who made payments had not been sent to Germany.

The BRS leader questioned the recruitment charges and the agreements candidates had signed during the placement process.

BRS questions irregularities in TOMCOM recruitment

Praveen Kumar alleged that unemployed jobseekers were charged Rs 4.10 lakh each for employment opportunities in Germany. He questioned why candidates had to pay such amounts when the recruitment advertisements described the opportunities as free.

According to him, around 200 candidates had already paid money under the recruitment arrangements. However, at least 10 applicants had not travelled to Germany despite making payments, he claimed.

The BRS general secretary raised concerns about the handling of overseas placements and the financial burden on unemployed candidates. He also questioned the recruitment arrangements involving TOMCOM, which was established to protect jobseekers from recruitment agents.

Agreements with Fair Street raise questions

Praveen Kumar further alleged that candidates had to sign agreements with a company named Fair Street. He claimed that the agreements did not mention TOMCOM, despite the placements being associated with the government-linked overseas recruitment organisation.

The BRS leader questioned the absence of TOMCOM’s name from the agreements signed by jobseekers. Additionally, he raised concerns about the collection of money through recruitment arrangements involving a private company.

He referred to TOMCOM’s stated objective of protecting overseas employment seekers from recruitment agents. Praveen Kumar questioned whether the alleged payment arrangements were consistent with that objective.

The BRS general secretary also criticised Minister Vivek Venkataswamy’s overseas visits in connection with TOMCOM. He raised the issue while accusing the Congress government of irregularities in overseas recruitment.

Praveen Kumar’s allegations centred on the charges collected from candidates, the agreements involving Fair Street and the failure to send some applicants to Germany. The claims were made during his press conference at Telangana Bhavan on Thursday.

The source account did not include responses from the minister, TOMCOM, Fair Street or the Telangana government.
