KTR challenges Revanth to fulfil poll promises before seeking votes

Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president K.T. Rama Rao challenged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to seek votes only after fulfilling Congress poll promises in Telangana.

In a statement on Sunday, KTR said the Chief Minister should publicly declare that he would contest future elections only after implementing all election commitments.

The BRS leader accused Revanth Reddy of diverting public attention through the debate on electricity meters for agricultural pump sets. Instead, he said the government should explain the status of its election promises.

KTR questioned several poll promises. These included housing under the Indiramma Housing Scheme, welfare guarantees and other assurances the Congress party gave before the elections.

Poll promises dominate KTR’s criticism

KTR also criticised the proposal to establish a separate Farmers’ DISCOM. He alleged that the move could eventually affect 24-hour free electricity supply for farmers.

He claimed the proposed utility would facilitate changes to the existing agricultural power supply system.

KTR recalled remarks that Revanth Reddy made while in the opposition. He argued that the current proposal reflected the same approach towards farm power supply.

“The real intention behind the Farmers’ DISCOM is to dismantle the historic 24-hour free power supply introduced by KCR. The Congress government is trying to conceal its anti-farmer agenda while claiming that the initiative is intended to benefit farmers,” KTR said.

The BRS leader described the proposed Farmers’ DISCOM as harmful to Telangana’s farming community. Therefore, he urged farmers and urban residents to oppose the proposal.

KTR also alleged that the Congress government had failed to fulfil major election promises. He said the party had made those commitments to different sections of society.

He urged citizens to remain vigilant. He also asked them to evaluate government policies against election promises.
