Hyderabad: BRS Legislature Party whip and MLA K.P. Vivekanand urged party leaders and booth-level agents to ensure that every eligible citizen was included in the voter list during the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise.
He attended an awareness meeting at the BRS party office in Chintal under Kutbullapur constituency. The programme was organised following directions from BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao.
During the meeting, Vivekanand explained the procedures, rules, and precautions linked to the SIR programme.
He said voting was both a right and a responsibility of every citizen. He also said leaders and BLOs must ensure that every eligible voter received voting rights without difficulty.
Voter list verification stressed during SIR programme
Vivekanand said the Election Commission was conducting the SIR exercise based on the 2002 population data.
According to him, the programme aimed to identify genuine voters and remove duplicate entries from the voter list.
He also said officials would identify permanently migrated voters and fake names in voter records.
Meanwhile, officials would map family voters, add new voters, and correct mistakes in voter details.
Vivekanand urged leaders, welfare association representatives, older citizens, and youth to create awareness among people. He also asked them to coordinate with officials for smooth implementation of the programme.
He said leaders and BLOs should remain alert to ensure that the voter list remained free from errors.
The MLA also spoke about the party’s upcoming membership drive and the appointment of new committees under the leadership of K. Chandrashekar Rao.
He urged party leaders to work towards strengthening the organisation and expanding the party’s reach among the public.
Former corporator Rasheeda Mohammed Rafi, senior leaders, welfare association representatives, women leaders, and party workers attended the meeting.
