Hyderabad: Telangana Legislative Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar constituted a Select Committee on Monday. The panel will examine the Telangana Hate Speech and Hate Crimes (Prevention) Bill, 2026.
The Speaker appointed Transport and BC Welfare Minister Ponnam Prabhakar as the committee’s chairman. The panel includes MLAs from different political parties.
The committee will examine the proposed legislation. It will also submit its recommendations to the Assembly.
The Speaker constituted the committee under the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business. The Assembly adopted the motion on March 30, 2026.

The committee includes Balu Naik Nenavath, Laxmi Kantha Rao Thota, Gavinolla Madhusudan Reddy, Dr Kuchukulla Rajesh Reddy, Dr Kavvampally Satyanarayana and Yashaswini Mamidala.
Other members include Danam Nagender, Kova Laxmi, Koninty Manik Rao, Ram Rao Pawar, Ahmed Bin Abdullah Balala and Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao.
The committee must submit its report before the 2026 Monsoon Session concludes.
