Telangana to host Khelo India Games on a grand scale

Hyderabad: Telangana will host the Khelo India Games from December 11 to 22, Sports Minister Vakiti Srihari said on Thursday. The State Government will organise the 12-day event on a grand scale.

Srihari led a Telangana delegation that met Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Dr Mansukh Mandaviya in New Delhi. Government Sports Affairs Advisor A. P. Jithender Reddy and Sports Authority of Telangana State Chairman Shiva Sena Reddy also attended the meeting.

During the meeting, the delegation thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mandaviya on behalf of the Telangana Government. The leaders had allotted the Games to Telangana.

The delegation also presented Mandaviya with an invitation from Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. Meanwhile, Srihari said the State Government had prepared comprehensive plans for the event.

The minister said Telangana would conduct the Games on a grand and prestigious scale. He also assured that the government would maintain the highest standards throughout the event.

Furthermore, Srihari said officials would work to prevent shortcomings and adverse remarks during the Games. He said the State Government had made detailed preparations for the event.

Khelo India Games to support Telangana’s sports policy

Separately, Srihari said Chief Minister Revanth Reddy would seek an appointment with Prime Minister Modi. The Chief Minister would personally invite Modi to attend the programme.

Meanwhile, the minister said Telangana had introduced a new sports policy to advance the sports sector. He said the government had also taken revolutionary measures to strengthen sports in the State.

In addition, the government had given special priority to identifying talented sportspersons from rural areas. It was also encouraging such athletes as part of its efforts to promote sporting talent.

Srihari said all stakeholders would have to work together to ensure the successful conduct of the Games. He said the event would further enhance Telangana’s reputation as a leading sporting destination.

“With the cooperation of all stakeholders, we will successfully organise the Khelo India Games and further enhance Telangana’s reputation as a leading sporting destination,” Srihari said.

The Telangana delegation met Mandaviya in New Delhi on Thursday. The Games will run in Telangana for 12 days, from December 11 to December 22.
