Hyderabad: Telangana RKVY implementation won praise from Union Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan during a review of Centrally Sponsored Schemes. Agriculture, Marketing and Cooperation Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao participated in the video conference chaired by Chouhan.
The meeting reviewed the progress of Centrally Sponsored Schemes in three states. Chouhan praised Telangana for its progress under the Rashtriya Krishi Vikas Yojana (RKVY).
He also appreciated the Telangana Government’s effective use of the Farmer Field School (FFS) app. The Union Government had introduced the application.
Tummala asked the Union Government to sanction and release the second tranche of RKVY funds for Telangana at the earliest. He sought an early decision on the pending release.
Chouhan responded positively to the request. He assured Tummala that the Union Government would take necessary steps to release the funds early.

Tummala also raised concerns about the difficulties farmers faced amid the prevailing El Niño conditions in Telangana. He asked the Union Government to ensure full procurement of pulses produced by farmers in the State.
The Minister sought 100 per cent procurement of pulses to protect farmers from market risks. He also sought adequate support for farmers selling their produce.
Chouhan responded positively and assured Tummala that the Union Government would consider the request favourably.
Tummala then sought special measures for procuring maize and other crops produced in Telangana. He stressed the need for timely procurement arrangements.
He also called for effective coordination between Central agencies and the State Government. Such coordination, he said, would help farmers market their produce without difficulties.
The Telangana Agriculture Minister said the State Government would continue working with the Union Government to protect farmers’ interests. He also stressed continued cooperation to strengthen agricultural development in the State.
The discussions covered RKVY funds, pulse procurement, maize procurement and other crops. Chouhan assured early action on the second tranche of RKVY funds.
The Union minister also gave a positive response to Telangana’s request for full pulse procurement. Tummala’s demands focused on timely support, better market access and greater income security for farmers.
