Hyderabad: Hyderabad District Congress Committee president Syed Khalid Saifullah sought an Indiramma Indlu-LIG deadline extension of 10 to 15 days. He also asked the Telangana Housing Board to add a “Divorced” category for eligible women.
Saifullah submitted the representation to Telangana Housing Board Vice-Chairman and Housing Commissioner V. P. Gautham on Thursday. He said the August 15, 2026 deadline gave eligible families limited time to complete their applications.
Around 46,000 applications had reached the Housing Board for 7,680 flats under the scheme. The scheme covered 16 Assembly constituencies.
Saifullah said the application figure remained relatively low. He suggested that many eligible families might not yet know about the scheme or its application process.
People had recently approached Congress offices for information and assistance, he said. Several eligible families had learned about the scheme only in recent days.
The DCC president therefore urged the Housing Board to extend the Indiramma Indlu-LIG deadline by at least 10 to 15 days. He also sought wider publicity to reach more eligible low-income group families.

Saifullah also drew attention to difficulties faced by divorced women. He said the current application form did not list “Divorced” under marital status.
The form also asked women applicants to provide their husband’s Aadhaar details. According to Saifullah, this requirement prevented some eligible divorced women from completing their applications because they could not provide their former husband’s Aadhaar information.
He urged the Housing Board to add a “Divorced” option to the marital-status section. He also asked officials to exempt divorced applicants from submitting their former husband’s Aadhaar details.
Saifullah said these changes would allow eligible divorced women to complete the application process. He also called for measures to remove barriers that could exclude deserving families.
The DCC president linked the deadline extension to the need for greater public awareness. He said wider publicity could help more eligible families submit applications before the revised deadline.
He also pressed for changes to the application form. The requested changes focused specifically on divorced women who faced difficulties with the Aadhaar requirement.
Saifullah’s representation sought three measures from the Housing Board. These included more time to apply, wider publicity and a separate category for divorced women.
The current application deadline remained August 15, 2026. Saifullah sought an additional 10 to 15 days for eligible families to submit their applications.
