Hyderabad: The government will conduct the Indiramma Towers lucky draw from August 27 to 30 after declaring 40,900 applicants eligible following field verification. Revenue, Housing and Information and Public Relations Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy announced the schedule after reviewing the housing programme on Tuesday.
He said 60,720 applications had been received between June 20 and August 15 for the first phase. After a 360-degree field-level verification and detailed scrutiny, officials declared 40,900 applicants eligible. Another 19,820 applicants were found ineligible.
The minister said officials had made the reasons for rejection available on the website for each application. Meanwhile, the tender process had been completed in 15 constituencies for the construction of the housing towers.
Indiramma Towers lucky draw to be held transparently
Ponguleti said officials would conduct the selection process in special function halls in the respective areas. The Indiramma Towers lucky draw would take place in the presence of eligible applicants and members of the public.
Moreover, the government appointed a special supervising officer for every draw centre to ensure transparency. The draws would begin on August 27 and continue through August 30.
On August 27, draws would take place for Rayadurgam, KPHB Colony, Mailardevpally and Red Hills. On August 28, officials would conduct draws for Kowkur, Patigadda, Jalpally and Kulsumpura.
The August 29 schedule covered Jubilee Hills MLA Colony, Bowenpally, Bandlaguda LIG Colony and Nandimusaliguda. On August 30, the process would cover Gajularamaram, City Police Lines in Amberpet, Gaddinannaram, R&B Quarters and Pocharam LIG Colony.
The government would announce the final beneficiary lists through the lucky draw process. Applicants who qualified but were not selected would receive refunds of their Rs 10,000 earnest money deposits.
Ponguleti said the government would immediately credit the refund to their bank accounts after the selection process. The minister said the government had initially taken up Indiramma Towers on a pilot basis across 16 constituencies.
The first-phase housing programme had an estimated cost of Rs 807.40 crore. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy had earlier laid the foundation for the Indiramma Towers programme.
Ponguleti said the government had accelerated construction plans to provide housing to poor families waiting for homes in the city. He reviewed construction progress, beneficiary selection, the lucky draw process and applications in additional constituencies.
The minister said the programme aimed to give poor families a permanent asset and secure housing within the city.
Applications invited in four more constituencies
The government also selected sites in four additional constituencies for the next expansion of the programme. It planned to construct 480 houses in each constituency, taking the total to 1,920 homes across the four areas.
In LB Nagar constituency, the government selected Amangal in Hayathnagar village for the housing programme. Nampally was selected in Goshamahal constituency. Jamistanpur, including the RTC Quarters area, was selected in Musheerabad constituency.
In Chandrayangutta constituency, the government identified Bandlaguda near Falaknuma for the housing project. Eligible residents of these four constituencies could submit applications until September 3, Ponguleti said.
The same eligibility conditions applied earlier to the 16 constituencies would govern the new applications.
Indiramma Towers lucky draw offers 525 sq ft flats
The proposed Indiramma Towers flats would have an area of 525 square feet each. Ponguleti said beneficiaries would also receive an undivided share of about 20 to 25 square yards of land.
The government would register this land share in the beneficiary’s name free of cost, he said. According to the minister, the value of the land share could range from Rs 60 lakh to more than Rs 1 crore, depending on location.
The State government would also provide a full subsidy of Rs 5 lakh towards house construction. The beneficiary contribution would be limited to Rs 6 lakh, which could be paid in four instalments.
Ponguleti said the Indiramma Towers programme was intended to do more than provide an apartment. He said the objective was to give poor families a permanent property, housing security and an opportunity to live with dignity.
The minister said the programme sought to help families move out of lifelong dependence on rented accommodation and become homeowners within the city.
