Hyderabad: A major fire broke out at a plastic manufacturing unit in Tata Nagar, Mailardevpally division, early Sunday, causing panic among residents.
The incident occurred at the Sivananda Brothers Plastic Grain Works, located in Survey No. 134/20. According to officials, workers had locked up the unit as usual on Saturday night. However, on Sunday morning, thick smoke and flames were seen billowing from the premises.
Alarmed by the smoke, locals alerted the Rajendranagar fire station. A fire crew led by Chandranayak reached the spot quickly and brought the fire under control. No injuries were reported in the incident.

The fire gutted large quantities of plastic stock and equipment stored at the facility. Officials said the exact cause of the fire is still under investigation. The damage assessment is underway, though the unit suffered total material loss.
Residents expressed concern over the presence of industrial units in residential areas. Authorities have not reported any structural damage or casualties.
