Hyderabad: Khairatabad Police solved a bus theft case involving the theft of gold ornaments during travel in a private bus and recovered the entire stolen property from the accused.
The complainant reported that a handbag containing nearly 62 grams of gold ornaments went missing while travelling in a private bus from Andhra Pradesh to Sangareddy district. Police registered a case at Khairatabad Police Station and launched an investigation.
The investigation led officers to Tatapudi Tella Raja alias Raju, 48, a resident of Darsi village in Prakasam district of Andhra Pradesh. During questioning, the accused admitted his involvement in the offence. Police subsequently recovered the entire stolen property, including approximately 62 grams of gold ornaments.
Bus theft case reveals history of property offences
Further verification showed that the accused was involved in several property-related offences in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. Police records linked him to theft cases registered at Kukatpally, Pet Basheerabad, Panjagutta, Narsaraopet and Krishnalanka police stations over the years.
During interrogation, the accused also confessed to his involvement in two additional cases registered at LB Nagar and Saifabad police stations. Investigators are examining his role in those offences and pursuing further legal action.
Bus theft case prompts travel safety advisory
Following the detection of the bus theft case, Hyderabad City Police issued an advisory for passengers and travel operators. Police advised passengers to keep jewellery, cash, electronic gadgets and other valuables under personal supervision throughout their journey.
Officials also urged travellers to secure their bags properly, avoid leaving valuables unattended and immediately report suspicious activity to bus staff or police. Travel operators were asked to install functional CCTV systems, maintain passenger records and verify the details of passengers boarding buses.
Police further advised operators not to allow last-minute passengers to board without proper identification and documentation. Hyderabad City Police urged citizens and transport operators to remain vigilant and cooperate in preventing thefts during travel.
The case was detected under the supervision of In-charge ACP Panjagutta Division K. Sanjay Kumar. Khairatabad SHO B. Venkat Reddy and Detective Inspector M. Balaswamy led the investigation. Senior officers appreciated the efforts of the crime team for solving the case and recovering the stolen property.
