Hyderabad: Police traced a missing BTech student from Hyderabad to a body recovered from a well in Andhra Pradesh’s Prakasam district, bringing the search for Ankam Rahul to a tragic end.
Rahul, a native of Jagtial district, was pursuing BTech and staying at Lakshmikala Boys Hostel in Saidabad.
His father, Ankam Rajeswar, approached Kachiguda Police after Rahul went missing on May 27.
Missing BTech student case takes tragic turn
According to investigators, Rahul met a friend at Kachiguda Tourist Junction on May 27.
He got off the motorcycle and told his friend he was heading out with others.
His family lost contact with him soon afterwards.
Meanwhile, Kachiguda Police examined multiple leads and continued efforts to trace him.
During the investigation, officers learnt that Singarayakonda Police in Prakasam district had recovered an unidentified body from a well on May 30.
Investigators compared the belongings recovered from the deceased with Rahul’s details.
Police said the articles matched his description and personal identity details.
However, authorities will rely on DNA analysis to establish the identity conclusively.
Officials have informed Rahul’s family about the development.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the case.
