Hyderabad: Telangana Rakshana Sena chief Kalvakuntla Kavitha on Monday accused the Congress government of harming the interests of Singareni workers and alleged that corruption was weakening the state-owned coal mining company.
Addressing a press conference in Mancherial, she said the Telangana movement was achieved through struggle and asserted that her party would not be intimidated by any leader.
Kavitha alleged that Mancherial MLA Kokkirala Prem Sagar Rao was resorting to intimidation and asked him to stop such practices.
She reiterated that the Telangana Rakshana Sena was launched from the region and vowed to strengthen the party across the state.
The TRS chief claimed that only HMS and the Telangana Rakshana Sena were sincerely protecting the rights of Singareni employees.
She also questioned the role of the state government and its leadership in addressing issues affecting the mining sector.
Singareni workers facing uncertainty, alleges Kavitha
Kavitha demanded that the Telangana government oppose the four labour codes introduced by the Centre.
She urged Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy to take steps that would benefit Singareni if he truly represented the interests of Telangana.
Meanwhile, she expressed happiness over launching the Boggu Bai Yatra from Mancherial.
The TRS chief alleged that attempts were underway to reduce the workforce in Singareni.
She claimed that authorities were failing to provide basic facilities to workers.
Furthermore, she alleged that these developments were taking place with the knowledge of senior leaders in the state government.
Referring to Gujarat Minerals Corporation, Kavitha said Telangana should establish a similar corporation for the mining sector.
She announced that her party would create such a corporation if it came to power.
The Telangana Rakshana Sena leader also advocated a dedicated mining development policy for Singareni.
She said such a policy could strengthen underground mining operations.
Kavitha alleged that the BJP government nationalised several coal blocks after coming to power by citing irregularities in the sector.
However, she asserted that the BJP would not come to power in Telangana.
She reiterated her opposition to the four labour codes and demanded justice for contract workers.
Additionally, she alleged that people who gave land for Singareni projects in Thallapalli had not received adequate compensation.
Kavitha also accused the Congress government of failing to protect the interests of workers in the Singareni belt despite securing electoral victories in the region.
