Hyderabad: Telangana Tourism, Culture and Excise Minister Jupally Krishna Rao on Wednesday challenged BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao to a public debate over Telangana debt figures. He also rejected the BRS leader’s allegations against the Congress government.
Addressing a press conference at the CLP media centre in the Assembly, Jupally Krishna Rao, accompanied by MLAs Veerapalli Shankar and Rajesh Reddy, accused K.T. Rama Rao of misleading the public by making what he described as false claims. He also rejected the allegation that the government had allocated ₹200 crore for the Chief Minister’s camp office.
Telangana debt figures at centre of challenge
Jupally Krishna Rao alleged that the previous BRS government had accumulated debt exceeding ₹8 lakh crore. He challenged K.T. Rama Rao to debate the figures publicly. The minister said he was prepared to resign as an MLA if the debt figures presented by him proved incorrect. He also challenged the BRS leader to participate in the proposed debate.
Telangana debt figures spark political exchange
Jupally Krishna Rao urged K.T. Rama Rao to stop making what he described as baseless allegations against the Congress government. Further, he expressed confidence that the Congress would retain power after the next Telangana Assembly elections. He also said the public would not be misled by political allegations.
