Jupally Krishna Rao unveils Telangana Tourism Week action plan

Hyderabad: Tourism, Culture and Excise Minister Jupally Krishna Rao on Friday unveiled the brochure for the Telangana Tourism Week programme to be organised across the state from May 18 to 23.

The week-long programme forms part of the state government’s Praja Palana – Pragati Pranalika initiative and the “99-Day Action Plan.”

Officials unveiled the brochure at the Minister’s chamber in the Secretariat in the presence of Tourism, Culture and Archaeology Special Chief Secretary Vani Prasad and Tourism Director Laxman Ranjith Naik.

Krishna Rao will formally launch the Tourism Week celebrations at the State Museum in Hyderabad on May 18 during International Museum Day celebrations.

Telangana Tourism Week to promote heritage destinations

Highlighting Telangana’s tourism potential, the minister said the programmes aimed to promote heritage, culture, eco-tourism and historical destinations across the state.

He said the celebrations would also create greater public awareness about tourism-led development and employment opportunities.

The Tourism Department is organising the programmes in coordination with the departments of Language and Culture, Heritage and NITHM.

The activities will include heritage walks, tourism awareness drives, cleanliness campaigns at tourist destinations and interactions with tourism influencers.

District-level tourism promotion programmes will also take place during the celebrations.

Telangana Tourism Week to host cultural programmes

Krishna Rao said Telangana had major tourism potential with destinations such as Ramappa Temple, Nagarjuna Sagar, Buddha Vanam, Alampur Jogulamba Temple and Laknavaram Lake attracting tourists.

He also referred to Bogatha Waterfalls, Paigah Tombs, Raymond’s Tombs, Gunfoundry, Khazana Building, Panagal Museum and heritage structures in Warangal.

The minister said the state government was focusing on integrated tourism development through infrastructure improvement, heritage conservation and cultural tourism promotion.

As part of the action plan, authorities will organise folk performances, classical dance recitals, literary events and music concerts at Ravindra Bharati and district headquarters.

Telangana Tourism Week to conclude with conclave

Krishna Rao also highlighted Tourism Conclave 2026 on the theme “Destination Telangana: Strategies for the Next Frontier of Tourism,” scheduled in Hyderabad on May 23.

The conclave will bring together tourism stakeholders, hospitality experts and policymakers to discuss future strategies for strengthening Telangana’s tourism sector.

The minister said the Tourism Week programmes would strengthen Telangana’s image as a vibrant tourism destination and support inclusive development under Praja Palana – Pragati Pranalika.
