Tourism initiatives planned to boost Nalgonda district: Jupally

Hyderabad: Minister for Tourism and Culture Jupally said the State government is taking several steps to strengthen Nalgonda tourism. He said the focus is on improving heritage and spiritual destinations in the district.

During Question Hour in the Legislative Council on Saturday, Jupally Krishna Rao responds to questions raised by MLC Kethavath Shankar on tourism development. He outlines ongoing and proposed initiatives aimed at improving facilities for pilgrims and tourists.

Nalgonda tourism plans focus on key sites

The Minister highlights Vadapalli as a major pilgrimage centre located at the confluence of the Krishna and Musi rivers. He says the Sri Veeranarayana Swamy Temple attracts large numbers of devotees, particularly during the Kartika month and major festivals.

To strengthen Nalgonda tourism at Vadapalli, Jupally Krishna Rao says the government has commissioned a feasibility survey. He adds that the study is identifying infrastructure and amenities required to improve the pilgrim experience.

Meanwhile, the Minister describes Buddhavanam near Nagarjuna Sagar as a flagship project for Buddhist heritage and cultural tourism. He says the site spreads across 274 acres along the Krishna River and honours Acharya Nagarjuna and historic Nagarjunakonda.

Under the Centre’s Swadesh Darshan 2.0 scheme, Jupally Krishna Rao says ₹24.84 crore has been sanctioned for a Digital Experience Centre. He adds that construction work is currently in progress.

In addition, the Minister says the government is finalising plans to establish Buddhist monasteries, meditation centres and educational institutes through the PPP model.

Finally, Jupally Krishna Rao says the government remains committed to strengthening tourism infrastructure. He adds that these initiatives will position Nalgonda as a key destination for heritage and spiritual tourism.
