Hyderabad: Pink Power Run 3.0 drew more than 35,000 participants in Hyderabad on Sunday. The community run promoted breast cancer awareness, early detection, women’s health and empowerment.
Megha Engineering & Infrastructures Limited and the Sudha Reddy Foundation jointly organised the event. The run began at the HMDA Grounds along the banks of Hussain Sagar Lake.
Early in the morning, Necklace Road was filled with runners participating in the mega community fitness event. The organisers focused on health, fitness, medical screening and greater awareness of breast cancer.
The event featured four categories, including a 21-kilometre half-marathon. Participants also competed in 10-kilometre, 5-kilometre and 3-kilometre runs.
People across age groups took part in the event. Children as young as five years and seniors aged above 80 participated alongside persons with disabilities.
The half-marathon also attracted runners from several countries. Participants came from the USA, England, the UAE, Ethiopia, Uganda, Sri Lanka, Iceland, Tanzania, Botswana, Kenya and Canada.
Pink Power Run 3.0 gets international participation
Meanwhile, runners from India and abroad created an international sporting atmosphere along Necklace Road. The participation also highlighted the event’s focus on community fitness and public health awareness.
The run was flagged off by Telangana Minister for Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Danasari Anasuya, also known as Seethakka. Telangana DGP CV Anand and MEIL Group Managing Director PV Krishna Reddy also attended the flag-off.
Sudha Reddy, founder of the Sudha Reddy Foundation, participated in the event alongside US Consul General in Hyderabad Laura Williams. Olectra Greentech (EV Trans) Vice President VV Lakshminarayana was also among those who flagged off the run.
Film actor Sidhu Jonnalagadda and former Miss World Opal Sucheta participated in the event. Indian professional boxer Vijender Singh also joined the programme.
Narayana Group of Educational Institutions Director Puneeth and Avinash Group Chairman Avinash also took part. Their participation added to the enthusiasm among runners during the community event.
The Pink Power Run 3.0 was organised as a large-scale fitness initiative. Its stated objectives included encouraging early medical screenings and increasing awareness about breast cancer and women’s health.
